Hello
We are back from Belize!
We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and had a wonderful relaxing vacation. Although I can speak Spanish, Belize was an easy country to visit as everyone speaks English. People were warm and friendly, the Caribbean islands were easy to explore on golf carts or on foot, and our stay in a jungle lodge was a favorite for our toddler boys.
Moving on to today's focus destination, Nicaragua!
Nicaragua as a tourist destination used to be a secret. “Psssst, have you been to Nicaragua yet? That’s where you really want to go,” travelers would say. It was the land of backpackers and intrepid travelers. Tourists veered toward Costa Rica instead as Nicaragua’s rough political history left it less of a traditional tourist destination.
But over the years, travelers seeking a fun, less expensive, and adventurous destination came here as an alternative to the more developed, “more touristy” Costa Rica.
Nicaragua is becoming the new hot destination spot for families, honeymooners, and adventurers relishing the cheap beer, hiking, good surf, and so much more!
After visiting a few years ago, I completely understand the appeal. Nicaragua is filled with amazing natural beauty and extremely warm people. I went in with high expectations and was not disappointed.
Join me in today's edition of Let's Go Places and learn more about fascinating Nicaragua!

Nicaragua Travel Guide
Nicaragua is the largest of the Central American nations, yet it is also the most sparsely populated. Although Costa Rica, its neighbor to the south, has long been a bustling tourist destination, Nicaragua has only recently come into its own.
Nicaragua has the largest area of primary-growth rainforest north of the Amazon, six active volcanoes and 550 miles of coastline dotted with sandy beaches and sleepy surf towns.
There are few ancient ruins left in Nicaragua, but picturesque colonial towns--like Granada and Leon--make up for it with their pastel-painted churches and vibrant local festivals.
Little Corn Island
This Tiny Island Off the Coast of Nicaragua Is an Underrated Caribbean Paradise
Anja: "And it was the highlight of my personal Nicaragua trip a few years ago!"
Most travelers can't fit Little Corn — the smaller of the two Corn Islands, situated in the Caribbean 50 miles off Nicaragua's eastern coast — into their mainland itinerary. ... with the hour-long flight in a prop plane from Managua to Big Corn, then a 30-minute ride in an open-air panga boat.
The island is an ideal blend of quiet, with its spotty Internet and lack of cars, and lively, given the mix of cultures and people.

Visit These Countries To Try Volcano (& Sand) Surfing!
Nicaragua's Cerro Negro is the most popular place to volcano surf.
Not only was it invented at this active volcano, but it is also one of the fewest places on earth that offer this exciting excursion!
Located near León in western Nicaragua, the volcano is located on the Cordillera de Los Maribios mountain range. Not only is the Cerro Negro the most active volcano in all of Central America, but it's also the youngest! Despite its activity, the park it's surrounded in is gorgeous. With strong winds and refined grains of volcanic rock, it makes this a perfect destination for volcano surfing! Several tours in Nicaragua offer a day excursion to Cerro Negro to shred the slopes.

International travel with no restrictions: A country-by-country guide to where you can travel with no COVID-19 test required
Coronavirus-related restrictions are falling right and left, and more and more countries are throwing open their doors again to visitors thanks to decreasing COVID-19 case numbers and increasing vaccination rates.
In fact, many countries no longer require a COVID-19 test for entry, regardless of vaccination status, while some — including Belize, Mexico and Costa Rica — still require unvaccinated travelers to submit a pre-arrival test or test upon arrival. However, many countries on the list treat all travelers the same and have eliminated entry requirements as a result.
Here’s a guide to the countries you can visit that no longer require a test for most visitors.
