Costa Rica
Costa Rica vs Panama: which Central American country is right for you?
Costa Rica or Panama? Both offer a wealth of wildlife, untamed nature, adrenaline-fuelled activities, and stunning beaches strung along seemingly endless Pacific and Caribbean coastlines. And they may be the priciest countries in Central America but they have the infrastructure to match.
The similar characteristics of these neighboring gems have led to a good-natured rivalry, from the soccer field to coffee cupping. So, in that friendly spirit of competition, let's see how these two countries stack up.
Nicaragua
Why Nicaragua should be your next holiday destination
Although itâs the largest country in Central America, about the same size as New York state, Nicaragua is a surprisingly easy country to get around. Many of the key attractions are scattered around the lowlands that stretch along the Pacific coast.
Marked by colonial cities, beautiful beaches, and more than 20 volcanoes, my tour of the region thrills at each turn in the road. But then I visit the Caribbean coast and discover an entirely new way of looking at the country.
Panama
Panama City Nature Adventures for Animal Lovers
Tucked into the crossroads between two continents and two oceans, the city-meets-sea-meets-rainforest tangle of Panamaâs capital serves up a diverse menu of outdoor adventures.
Three million years ago when the isthmus rose from the sea, the resulting land bridge created a link between North and South America, prompting a remarkable exchange of species.
Subsequently, Panama remains one of the most biologically rich places on the planetâan explosion of nature and wildlife easily accessed in the myriad protected habitats within and just beyond Panama Cityâs urban jungle.

Americans Will Be Able to Renew U.S. Passports Online This October
Starting early 2023, those difficult-to-get appointments will be a thing of the past.
In October, the State Department will reopen its online U.S. passport renewal service. It's a pilot of a new online renewal system that is slated to fully open to the public early next year.
The test program was originally launched in February for federal government employees and contractors, and in August, the first "limitedâ version of the online renewal initiative was opened to the public. That phase of the trial was open on a first come, first served basis until the Department reached 25,000 online renewal applications.
